Our role
The Swedish Gallery Association is a nationwide association for
art galleries in Sweden. The mandate of the association is to
promote a public standard for galleries in Sweden, to protect
the common interests of our members, for example in politico-cultural
questions, and to work to promote exhibition standards with responsibility
to artists, collectors and the general public.
Membership requirements
Members
of the Swedish Gallery Association must have trustful and serious
relationship with exhibiting artists and follow the rules of membership.
Above all, these rules include the following:
-
The main objective of the gallery must be to continually organize
periodic exhibitions, primarily of the work of contemporary
Swedish or international artists.
- The
gallery must maintain acceptable financial and ethical exhibiting
conditions for the artist as common on the international market.
The gallery may not charge rent or request down payments from
artists. The fundamental principle should be a division of risk
between the gallerist and the artist.
-
The gallery must show attention to the artist with the presentation
of information about an exhibition.
All the rules are available in swedish and you can dowload them
as a PDF-document:

Services
Members of the Swedish Gallery Association are flexible. As a service
to art associations that may have difficulty visiting galleries
during the day, the galleries can remain open in the evening. To
arrange a time for a visit, call the gallery to make a booking.
If you would like to pay for a piece of art in installments, contact
the gallery to discuss payment plans. In certain cases, art associations
and institutions may be permitted to defer payment until the subsequent
financial period to facilitate purchases. .
